A new notification issued by UGC wherein many reasons behind this notification. It must be understood well. We have seen that in the last few years, many are passing the NET exam.

There are many students of who are passing but are not getting a chance to get a PhD.

What is the future After passing NET?  Students are getting tough preparation for  NET exam. We have seen that there are many standard questions in NET.

Inspite of passing , they are not getting a chance to get a PhD.   Even after passing the exams of Part 1 and Part 2, they are still waiting. There are many students like this. To get a PhD, they are going to another exam. Even if they qualify for NET.

Because the possibility of qualifying for NET is very limited. There are no top students. There are no modern students.

To solve this problem, a new notification has come from UGC. But, on the positive side, on the negative side, for Higher Studies always criticizes what we think. The reason for criticizing is UGC NET, your score validity is valid only for a year.

That means, for example a student passed the exam very well in 2024. But, he wants to get a PhD in Biology. In Life Science Branch. But, the score card is not 95. It is 90% or 85% of the students are qualified. So, the PhD student wants to apply for Presidency.

But, he didn’t get a chance in Presidency. So, he has to apply again next year.

Especially, the students from General Classes have these problems. What did UGC say? How did he participate in Capable Rights? I am sharing with you. Why does a person do PG? The basic question is, why does a student invest his time in MBA or MC instead of professional courses? There are 2-3 reasons behind it.

1. He wants to do research. He wants to get a PhD or Doctorate. He wants to do research.

2. He wants to study in College or University.

They can take admission in PhD but they won’t get the JRF or the stipend and they can join as an assistant professor in the second category.  What does the third category say? These are the students who are eligible for PhD admission only and are not awarded of JRF or appointment of assistant professor.  The students who are eligible for the third category will only get admission for PhD.  The first category says that you are eligible for JRF and assistant professor.  The second category says that you are not eligible for JRF but you are eligible for PhD and the third category says that you are not eligible for JRF and can not join as an assistant professor You can only apply for PhD.

The detailed notice is here –

UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar said in a statement that from the upcoming academic session of 2024-2025, the universities in the country will have the opportunity to utilise NET scores for admissions to PhD programmes, replacing the need for separate entrance tests conducted by individual universities and higher education institutions (HEIs). “This marks an important step in streamlining the admissions process and enhancing accessibility for aspiring doctoral candidates,”.

UGC Secretary Manish Joshi said in a public notice sent to all universities and HEIs that the UGC had constituted an expert committee to review the provisions of the NET and based on its recommendations the UGC decided on March 13 that the NET score could be used for PhD admissions. He said the NET candidates will be declared eligible in three categories, such as admission to PhD with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), eligible to be appointed as Assistant Professor and only for PhD programmes.
